Willamette River to Wheatland Ferry

Me kicking back and enjoying the beautiful day!

Kirk and his goofy grin.

We sure missed Calvin!

Kirk and Scott departed Salem about 8:30am on Saturday the 21st of November for a quick trip down to Wheatland Ferry. We both had GPS machines that showed how fast we were going. We went a total of 10 and half miles, it took us about an hour and a half. We were drifting at about 4 miles an hour. The river was moving very fast. We goofed around going around small trees and bushes that had lost their leaves. All in all it was a very fun run.

Here are some pictures Kirk took with his phone.

Olallie Lake

Today, Friday Aug. 7th the Yak Brothers of Oregon went to Olallie Lake up past Detroit Lake. Here is a brief synopsis of what happened:

Fortunately Calvin and Kirk found a spectacular Lake to visit!

Unfortunately Scott dropped Calvin's fishing pole in the Lake. I am a loser!

Fortunately the water was really warm, in fact it was so warm we would put our freezing hands into the water to warm them up!

Unfortunately Kirk's birthday fishing pole broke in half.

Fortunately Kirk used Calvin's other pole and CAUGHT A FISH!!!!!!!!

Unfortunately we almost died coming home when a truck and his trailer just about ran us off the road.

Fortunately Calvin is a great driver and we did not die.

Unfortunately it takes about 2 hours to get to the Lake.

Fortunately we had tons of fun and we will be going back to that wonderful lake.

Unfortunately we had to come home.

Fortunately we saw a beautiful bald eagle.

Finally both fortunately and unfortunately it was cold, but the cool thing was the mist and fog we got to go through. The fog was so dense we couldn't see each other more than 30-40 feet away.

Anyway that's enough of that, here are some great pictures and hopefully a video.

The foggy day on the lake!

Kirk fishing

The water was very choppy, but lots of fun!

Champoeg to Wilsonville

Kirk, Calvin, and Scott (that's me) went on a long kayaking trek a couple of weeks ago. We loaded up Kirk's cool new Jeep with the trailer full of our kayaks.

We left Calvin's truck at Memorial Park in Wilsonville and went to Champoeg Park and put in at about 9:00am. We played around, fished, and floated for about two hours and ended up going about seven miles in less than two hours.

I took this picture of my Kayak with our cool new logos. Also here are a couple of more pictures of our Willamette River trip.

Willamette River by Salem

Cory, Red 5, and The Hub went out Kayaking today for about two hours. We had a blast! Cory was with me he took the pictures. We floated around and did some exploring. We discovered 2 deer, and a squirrel. The deer were amazing! I'll post some of the better pictures.

Red Leder had to work tonight so he didn't make it.

Fun! Fun! Fun!

This is me (Red 5) with my new Yak. We had a really fun time!

Salamander

Kirk discovered a salamander swimming in the lake
so we picked him and played with him.

Silverton Reservoir

Today we went on our first official outing as the Kayak Brothers of Oregon! We went to Silverton at the public reservoir. We had a wonderful time.

Thanks to Kirk the Hub for organizing our trip, Calvin for picking us up and transporting the Kayaks, and Scott for snacks.

T-Shirts Coming Soon

We have ordered these cool T-Shirts. Sorry the font is so small. I'll take a cool picture when they come.

Cool names!

So to be official we all have our own code names -

Calvin is Red Leder - he has a cool red kayak.

Kirk is The Hub - since he is the one who sets up the trips everything revolves around the hub.

Scott (that's me) I'm Red 5 - I am red 5 because my kayak is red and red 5 is the call sign for Luke Skywalker in Episode 4 when they attack the Death Star.

Our wives think we are very strange, it's alright, it's a guy thing.

The best day ever

On Saturday Kirk, Calvin, Brody (Calvin's son), and Scott went Kayak hunting and Next Adventures in Portland. A couple of hours later and we all had our own Yaks!

We are AWESOME!

The purpose of this Blog is to chronicle our many wonderful adventures and hopefully post some cool pictures to go along.
